The Soho Glow.

{Rag & Bone leather jacket. JCrew jean shirt. Gucci top. Boutique9 boots. Alexis Bittar necklace. Alexander Wang bag. Elizabeth & James sunnies. La Colombe coffee.}

Soho has a distinct charm about it. Its cobblestone streets takes me back to my summer in Italia and the sides of its buildings heavily decorated with graffiti reminds me of my *ghetto-fabulous* college days in South Central LA #trojannation. Soho brings a unique glow out of anyone who walks through its streets.

I <3 NYC

The Red Lip Myth.

The right red does wonders on a blonde– even if you aren't Marilyn Monroe. It just so happens that my fair complexion pairs well with reds that have an orange undertone. It's an underutilized classic look that can dress up any outfit.

Classic Patterns.

{Burberry Vintage skirt. Elizabeth & James jacket & sunnies. Prada boots.}

To begin, my apologies for my absence. Work life and moving has been a little hectic, but I promise to be more consistent.

Update: New York has been everything and more than I ever dream of or expected.  I love it here, that is until my first winter swallows me whole. Please pray for the warm blooded California girl. My first few weeks in New York City have been quite an adventure. The above photos were taken by my fabulous roommate in front of the Whitney Museum. I have made it my mission, before it's unbearably cold outside, to be as cultured as possible! That includes visiting museums, running (or laying) in parks, and taking long walks around the city. I certainly didn't trade my long walks on the beach for nothing!

Comedic Relief: My room is the size of my closet in California. Thank GOD I can fit a double bed.

True That: My closet is the size of my room (SCORE)! Most closet space offered in the West Village!

Celebrating New Beginnings.

{Dress last seen here}
Los Angeles has often in the past defined me. My friends, university, and family (sister) live in the beach town oasis I once called home. Starting Thursday, I am switching coasts! Don't worry, I will still be blogging from there – documenting my adventures in the city that's energy never subsides, New York City. These photos are representative of the last time I may be on a west coast beach for a long time with many of the people I love. As I say goodbye to best friends, I can only hope to make more in the city I have dreamed about living in since I was a teenager! Long live my California girl pride – here comes your girl NYC!

Friday Quote: Katharine Hepburn.

"Life is to be lived.  If you have to support yourself, you had better bloody well find some way that's going to be interesting.  And you don't do that by sitting around."

A New York State of Mind.

Everyone I believe is infatuated with a place and eventually a certain someone. Luckily, I haven't found that certain someone quite yet, but I do know the place where my heart lies. I can't quite pin point what the one thing is about it, but New York is the one place in my life this far that makes me feel alive. It must be because there isn't only one thing about it that makes it one of the best places on Earth, there are far too many to count! Over the past week I was busy walking the streets, riding on the subway, and hopefully leaving my own mark in some way or another in the city that continues to inspire me more every time I visit. Hence, my apologies for the overdue blog post. I will not let it happen again.

Why you ask me is New York the key to opening the door my to soul?
Well answer me this, do you love culture, excitement, a fast paced atmosphere and more importantly men in suits or women strutting in heels from block to block? That's what I thought, you're welcome for removing the blindfold over your eyes.

{On me below: Rag & Bone Hat. A.L.C dress similar here.}

Something blue.

{Rebecca Minkoff blue dress. Anabell Ingall royal blue purse. Steve Madden black shoes. Elizabeth & James sunnies. Chan Luu bracelet. Alexander McQueen rings. Essie nail polish.}

My new royal blue bag is pretty much my pride and joy at the moment (other than my kitten of course). A colored tote is a staple in any wardrobe and a great accessory to carry to work everyday! The color couldn't be more perfect for summer or my trip to New York this week! Working on my tan will have to be the next thing on my to-do list. I apologize for the transparency and possible blindness caused from looking at my legs! Thank you V for taking these photos of me!

A walk in the park.

{Rory Rebecca yellow blouse. Joe's Jeans floral pants. Jimmy Choo yellow wedges. JCrew belt & purse. The Row sunglasses. NARS Funny Girl lipstick. Vintage jewelry & Chan Luu bracelet.}

I love pairing bright colors. These pants were on my lust list for summer and I'm so happy have them in my closet.  It has been hot here during the evening and I found this to be the perfect outfit to wear to a wine bar with a few of my girlfriends.

Explore LA.

Pleasure Doing Business patterned skirt. Urban Outfitters red blouse. Tyler Rose Swimwear bathing suit top. Sam Edelman sandals. Chan Luu bracelet.  CRAP eyewear sunglasses. Vintage hat.

When I visited LA last week, I realized I never took the time to explore all the historic landmarks while I was attending college there. Perhaps it was because most of my friends were born and raised in the Los Angeles area and had seen it all. But now looking back, I should have played the tourist card more often.

{ Does the Beverly Hills sign count as tourist attraction you ask? If you are a fashion enthusiast, your answer is yes. It's located right above Rodeo Drive! }

{ the ultimate tourists }

*This was the only picture that turning out of use in front of the sign. There should have been more, but we realized there were men we didn't know also taking pictures of us... creepy... tourist attractions bring out a few odd balls I suppose.

Red, White, Blue & Overdue.

Wild Fox American flag t-shirt. American Apparel red shorts. Vintage Chanel purse. Chan Luu bracelet. CRAP eyewear sunglasses. Vintage hat.

The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday and because it fell on a dreadful Wednesday, I felt the only thing to do was celebrate it all weekend long. Maybe it holds a special place in my heart because I grew up playing sports on the beach, swimming in the ocean and watching fireworks every year (I can promise you there are the best firework shows in California – just don't go to San Diego, I heard they struggled on that front this year). Then again perhaps having a reason to wear little-to-no clothing, scream "Amuuurica" at the top of my lungs waving an American flag, and drink heavily with my friends may also play a large part in my perpetual love for the fourth.

{ Festive nails for the holiday }

{ My friend Veronica and I, happy to find shade after walking around for a while in the hot summer sunshine – no complaints }

{ I mean it when I say California has the best fireworks. This particular photo I took in Emerald Bay, Laguna Beach which is where I celebrated this year }
